SANTA MONICA, CA — The Ferris wheel on Santa Monica Pier will light up with special displays in recognition of Kobe Bryant Day on Saturday.

The 90-foot Ferris wheel at Pacific Park will light up with "LA + ❤️ + 24" and "LA + ❤️ + 8" in recognition of the lake Laker's jersey numbers, along with a range of gold and purple displays.

Aug. 24 is celebrated as Kobe Bryant Day, or Black Mamba Day, because of Bryant's jersey number. It also comes a day after his birthday.
