Security Guard Admits To Killing Homeless Man In Santa Monica: Police

A security guard is accused of killing a homeless man in an alley adjacent to the building where he works, police said.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A 36-year-old security guard admitted to fatally stabbing a homeless man in Downtown Santa Monica in September when he was brought in for questioning by police earlier this month, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Police responded to an alley near 6th Street and California Avenue, just south of Reed Park, on Sept. 6 in response to a call regarding a person lying on the ground in the alley. There they discovered a man in his 30s — later identified as Quincy Nunes — dead with a stab wound to his upper chest area, according to police.

Detectives investigated the stabbing, including reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses, and identified the suspect as a security guard who worked in a building adjacent to the alley, police said.
