Suspected Hot Prowler Arrested Following Officer-Involved Shooting
No one was hurt in the shooting.
Santa Monica, CA -- A suspected hot prowler was arrested Saturday morning following an officer-involved shooting, Santa Monica police said.
The incident started at around 3:45 a.m. in the area of 23rd Street and Carlyle Avenue when officers noticed the suspect wearing dark clothes walking up and down various residential driveways, peering into windows and attempting to open car doors, police said.
When police approached, the suspect, identified as Kenneth Whitfield of Palmdale, hid behind a parked car, police said.

"During the approach and in response to Whitfield's actions, an officer fired one round," Lt. Saul Rodriguez of the Santa Monica Police Department said.
Whitfield was taken into custody on suspicion of prowling, vehicle tampering, receiving stolen property and probation violation. No one was hurt in the shooting.

The shooting was under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, Rodriguez said.
