UK's New Prime Minister Owns A $7.2M Santa Monica Property: Report

SANTA MONICA, CA — Turns out Britain's new prime minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murthy, may actually have some stake in Santa Monica.

The couple reportedly owns a $7.2 million apartment with views of the Santa Monica pier and coastline, The Guardian reported. Murthy bought the apartment straight from the developer in 2014 after the six-story building was completed in 2013.

Sunak on Monday became Britain's prime minister after his predecessor Liz Truss resigned.

The apartment is full of incredibly amenities like a private terraces with ocean views, updated kitchens, marbled bathrooms, a shared fitness center and a pet spa, The Guardian reported.

Sunak and his wife are no strangers to California, The Guardian reported. The couple met at Stanford University in northern California and had originally planned to live in the Santa Monica apartment after their wedding in 2009, according to The Guardian.
