Vons Sets Opening Date For New Santa Monica Supermarket

SANTA MONICA, CA — Vons plans to open a new supermarket in downtown Santa Monica this fall.

The new location will open in the new 700 Broadway building on Oct. 17, a company spokesperson told Patch.

The mixed-use building — which also includes 280 apartments and an Equinox fitness club — is located on Broadway between Lincoln Boulevard and 7th Street.

The Vons will also include a Starbucks licensed location inside that will open the same day, according to a spokesperson for the coffee chain.

"The Starbucks coffeehouse located inside Vons draws inspirational cues from the Santa Monica pier and local art scene. It features a thoughtfully designed in-café experience accessible to shoppers and residents," the spokesperson said.

"In addition, a pick-up window for mobile orders has been incorporated into the design. The mixed-use development places strong emphasis on street-level retail and pedestrian open space, and the Starbucks window is located alongside one of these community-gathering patio areas."
