What’s Up: Labor Day Picnic Canceled, Traffic Signal Outage, Hearing in Sexual Assault Case and More

Here are five things to know in Santa Monica today.

1. The Santa Monica Labor Day Democratic Club barbecue, originally scheduled for Monday Sept. 2 has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts with many club members.  The club apologizes for any inconvenience.

2. There is a planned traffic signal outage today from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and 14th Street.

4. A preliminary hearing date is scheduled to be set today for Brandon Cross, who is accused of sexually assaulting a female jogger on the beach near Santa Monica Pier.
