Woman Injured on City Bus to Get $450K
Santa Monica City Council agrees to compensate a woman who sued after falling on a Big Blue Bus.

A Big Blue Bus passenger who fell and injured herself when the driver "negligently applied his brakes" will receive $450,000 under a settlement approved by the Santa Monica City Council this week.
In a claim filed against the city, the passenger, a 62-year-old woman from Van Nuys, said she sustained dental, head, neck and back injuries. The incident took place in August of 2011 on Wilshire Boulevard near Sepulveda and the 405 Freeway, according to the claim.
"She was thrown forward in the bus," City Attorney Marsha Moutrie told the council. "She suffered back injury and serious lacerations to her head and will apparently need spinal surgery."
