Developer of Castlerock Housing Project Urges Opponents of Quail Brush to Attend Hearing
Submitted by Pardee Homes
Pardee Homes is urging a final rejection of the proposed Quail Brush Power Plant set to go before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on Thursday, March 21, 2013. As part of a long-term commitment to protecting the quality of life for future homebuyers, Pardee Homes encourages opponents to attend the hearing taking place in the Conference Center Hearing Room at 9 a.m. at the San Diego County Operations Center located at 5520 Overland Avenue.
While Pardee has remained opposed to Quail Brush, some have circulated misinformation that Pardee has changed its position.
“Nothing could be further from the truth,” said Jimmy Ayala, Director of Community Development for Pardee Homes. Ayala said the rumor has been that Pardee would participate in the Cogentrix solar rooftop program and would withdraw its opposition to the plant. Ayala said there is no truth to that rumor.
Throughout the approval process for the proposed plant, Pardee has allied with area residents, community and business leaders, environmentalists, and elected officials in opposition to the inconsistencies of the plant with the Community Plan and the natural habitat of Mission Trails Regional Park. As a neighboring property owner planning residential development in the area, Pardee Homes is committed to supporting the community in its opposition efforts.
“The fate of the region is a critical matter, and a CPUC decision on the plant has been delayed on several occasions,” said Ayala. “Considering that the City Councils for both the City of Santee and the City of San Diego rejected the proposed plant, it is clearly in the best interest of the public that it be put to rest.”
