Brush Fire Briefly Threatens Homes In Santee

SANTEE, CA — Crews were working to extinguish a brush fire Sunday evening in Santee.

The fire, which sparked adjacent to Willowgrove Avenue, briefly threatened homes in the area, according to the city.

"Although structures were initially threatened, fire crews have successfully mitigated the threat and no homes have been damaged," city officials said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Resources from neighboring East County fire departments, Cal Fire and the city of San Diego were working to contain the flames. Water dropping helicopters were also assisting in the firefight.
