Car Crashes Through Condo, Hits Sleeping Couple In San Diego County
A man and a woman were inside the home and struck by the vehicle while sleeping in bed.
EL CAJON, CA — A couple was recovering Tuesday morning after a car slammed into their home while they were sleeping overnight in San Diego's East County, authorities said.
A vehicle crashed into a condo at about 2:10 a.m. in the 900 block of Jamacha Road in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department. A man and a woman were inside the home and struck by the vehicle while in bed.
"The man suffered a serious injury, and the woman was treated for a minor injury," police Lt. Kevin Reilly said. "They were both transported to a hospital."

The crash left about 80% of the vehicle inside the home, Reilly said.
The driver, a 26-year-old El Cajon man, was not injured and remained at the scene, Reilly said.

"The driver underwent a series of field sobriety tests and was later released," Reilly said. "The cause of the collision was determined to be excessive speed due to the conditions of the curve on the road."
