Celebrate Santee's Oldest Building: Edgemoor Barn Turns 100

Saturday, May 11, the Santee Historical Society will put on a party that will be fun for the whole family.

This weekend the community will be celebrating the green and white barn that you pass by on Magnolia Avenue- Santee's oldest building, the Edgemoor Barn is turning 100!

To commemorate this special occasion The Santee Historical Society is planning a community wide celebration on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 9200 Magnolia Avenue.

Get a feel for turn-of-the-century life at Edgemoor Barn, food, raffles, crafts and games for the children, vintage cars and tractors, a blacksmith will be on hand and you can tour the Santee Historical Society Museum inside the barn.

Attendess will also apparently be able to hear George Cowles (1836-1887), considered the town founder, speak about early Santee.

The Birthday Celebration's theme will be a 1900s fair fun, in which the community is encourage to participate by dressing up in period costume and stepping back in time with us. Our main objective at this event is to foster an interest in history with activities and displays cloaked in fun.

All children's game tickets will be available at the day of the event at $5 for a set of 10, or you can purchase them ahead of time and get 5 free.
