DUI Checkpoint Scheduled In San Diego's East County
Police are urging motorists to give the gift of safe driving by committing to driving sober or designating a sober driver.

EL CAJON, CA — Police will conduct a DUI checkpoint next week in San Diego's East County.
The checkpoint will take place from 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 to 2 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 in the 300 Block of W. Chase Avenue in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department.
During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

"As the holiday season approaches, the joy of celebration often goes along with travel and gatherings with loved ones," the department said in a news release. "The El Cajon Police Department reminds everyone to celebrate responsibly and give the gift of safe driving by committing to driving sober or designating a sober driver."
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
