Molestation Trial Begins for Man Suspended from Job in Lakeside
Raul Licon Jr., 39, of San Marcos is charged with six felony counts, including committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15, sodomy on a person under 18 and oral copulation of a person under 18.

Opening statements are expected to get under way Tuesday in the trial of a Barona Fire Protection District captain accused of molesting a teenage boy over a two-year period.
Raul Licon Jr., 39, of San Marcos is charged with six felony counts, including committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15, sodomy on a person under 18 and oral copulation of a person under 18. He faces a maximum six years and four months in prison if convicted.
According to a search warrant affidavit, the teenager said the molestation began in September 2009 and lasted until September 2011. A friend of the alleged victim persuaded him to come forward, the document said.
At Licon's arraignment, his attorney, Rick Layon, alleged that the teenager became disgruntled after getting into an argument with the defendant.
Licon is free on $250,000 bail. He has been suspended without pay from his job in Lakeside pending the outcome of his case.
