Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In East County

The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

EL CAJON, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Tuesday in San Diego's East County, authorities said.

The collision happened at 5:17 p.m. at 800 South Magnolia Ave. in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department. Officers arrived and found a 66-year-old man unconscious in the roadway.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The pedestrian's identity is known, but his name was withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the 2018 black Ford Fusion remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to the department. Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.
