Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle On SR-94 In East County
The man was standing on the freeway, according to the CHP.
LEMON GROVE, CA — A vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian early Tuesday on state Route 94 in San Diego's East County, authorities said.
The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway, east of College Avenue in Lemon Grove, according to the California Highway Patrol. A 2009 Toyota RAV4 hit a man who was standing in the No. 4 lane.
"The driver of the Toyota was unable to avoid the pedestrian and the front of the Toyota crashed into the pedestrian," Grieshaber said.

The pedestrian died at the scene, Grieshaber said. His name and age were not released. The driver of the Toyota, a 48-year-old San Diego woman, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the collision for the driver of the Toyota, Grieshaber said. It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash for the pedestrian.
