Suspected DUI Driver Killed In Wrong-Way Crash In East County
A woman was heading east on the westbound side of I-8 when her car crashed into a truck, just west of El Cajon Boulevard in El Cajon.

LAKESIDE, CA — A suspected DUI driver was killed over the weekend in a wrong-way crash in San Diego's East County, authorities said Monday.
The crash happened around 12:48 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 8, according to the California Highway Patrol. A woman was heading east on the westbound side of the freeway when her 2021 Kia K5 crashed into a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, just west of El Cajon Boulevard in El Cajon.
The woman, a 49-year-old Lakeside resident, died at the scene of the crash, Officer Jared Grieshaber said. Her name was withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old El Cajon man, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, Grieshaber said.
"At this time, it is suspected that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this crash for the deceased," Grieshaber said. "Alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in this crash for the
driver of the Chevrolet."
