1 Dead In Motorcycle-SUV Collision In San Jose

A 36-year-old woman died Thursday night when she crashed her motorcycle into an SUV in San Jose's South University neighborhood, police say.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A 36-year-old woman died Thursday night when she crashed her motorcycle into an SUV in San Jose's South University neighborhood, police said Friday afternoon.

The crash was reported just before 8:10 p.m. in the 800 block of South 10th Street, near the westbound off-ramp of Interstate Highway 280.

The woman, a solo rider identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Maribel Hernandez, died at the scene.

The Nissan SUV driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Investigators say they don't believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
