Nearly 300 Saratoga Residents Lose Power Monday

Broken cable disrupts service for nearly 10 hours in the area of Springer Avenue and Fourth Street, according to PG&E.

Saratoga resident Michael Fleming was among hundreds of customers who lost power for nearly 10 hours Monday morning.

According to Fleming, the service interruption for his neighborhood, which is close to Saratoga Village, began roughly at around 5:40 a.m. and was restored at 8:30 a.m.

Neighboring Los Gatos also experienced a large, but brief, blackout Monday morning due to a car versus pole accident at about 10:30 a.m. Power was restored to nearly 10,000 customers in less than 30 minutes.

According to Pacific Gas & Electric spokeswoman Jana Morris, power went out for 251 customers in Saratoga at 5:58 a.m. and was restored at 3:43 p.m.

The outage was caused by a broken cable at Springer Avenue and Fourth Street, Morris said.
