Saratoga Is One of America's Safest Cities
City ranks No. 6, with one being the best and 100 being the worst, among 100 municipalities in the country in terms of annual crimes.

The website reviewed crime and population data for 100 municipalities in the country.
According to the site, its research includes towns with more than 25,000 people, based on the total number of property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents.

Crimes analyzed include burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, murder, forcible rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault.
The crime data came from the FBI and the population numbers came from the U.S. Census.

Safest cities are Franklin, MA, followed by Bergenfield, NJ; Greenwich, CT; Bartlett, IL; Buena Vista, AR; Ridgewood, NJ and Saratoga.
The safest neighborhoods in Saratoga are Blue Hills, Prospect Road/Miller Avenue; Sousa Lane/Quito Road; City Center and Wardel Court and Wardell Road, according to NeighborhoodScout.
Saratoga's crime index is listed as 88, with 100 being the safest. It's safer than 88 percent of other U.S. cities, the data revealed.
"Your chance of becoming a victim in Saratoga is one in 128 based on the total crime rate (violent and property crimes, combined). In America overall, your chance of becoming a victim of crime is 1 in 30. It is for these reasons that Saratoga is ranked as one of the top 100 safest cities in the U.S.A.," according to NeighborhoodScout.
Saratoga's violent crime rate is also well below the national average for communities of all population sizes, the data found.
Violent crimes such as assault, rape, murder and armed robbery happen less often in Saratoga than in most of America, it said.
"One's chance of becoming a victim of a violent crime here is one in 1900, which is a violent crime rate of 1 per 1,000 inhabitants," it stated.
NeighborhoodScout's analysis of property crime reveals that its rate in Saratoga is below average to all cities and towns in the nation.
This means that you are less likely to become a victim of arson, motor vehicle theft, larceny, or burglary in Saratoga than in most communities in America, said NeighborhoodScout.
Your chance of becoming a victim of property crime if you live here? Just one in 137, it noted.
Santa Clara County sheriff's captain Kenneth Binder, who acts as Saratoga's chief of police, said he was not surprised that the city had been ranked as high in terms of safety.
"Saratoga has wonderful residents, and it's a great place to live. The Sheriff's Office employs a community oriented policing philosophy, coupled with strict enforcement efforts within the city, which help to perpetuate a safe environment," he said.
