Saratoga Teen Wins Big at National Arts and Crafts Competition
Saratoga resident Angela Lan, 14, took top honors in the Young Crafter category at the Crafty Awards, which celebrates the best in crafts.

SARATOGA, CA -- A South Bay teen not only took the top prize in her category at a recent national awards competition, she also had her victory announced by an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter-musician.
Saratoga resident Angela Lan, 14, recently took top honors in The Craftys' Awards Young Crafter category for her rayon jumpsuit. The Craftys Awards celebrates the best in crafts and attracts submissions from thousands of crafters across the United States.

Angela is the creator of the Love's Punk website and is the author of the book Outfit of the Day.
The event was livestreamed from New York City on Feb. 12. For the award, Lan received The Craftys' trophy and a $200 check.

As seen in the above video, the Young Crafter award was announced by singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb, who's perhaps best known for her hit "Stay," from the movie "Reality Bites."
"I can tell she has a future in design or whatever she sets her mind to," Loeb who was a judge at the competition, said of Lan's jumpsuit. "She's a natural at making and at presentation as well, which is always important for someone who wants to make a professional go in the arts."
