5-Year-Old Boy Stabbed To Death By Twin Brother

It happened at the boys' Santa Cruz County home.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A 5-year-old boy died Wednesday after being stabbed by his twin brother while the pair were fighting in a Santa Cruz County home, according to the county Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were sent to the house in the 200 block of Tucker Road in the unincorporated area near Scotts Valley at about 4 p.m. to investigate reports of a stabbing.

"When deputies arrived, they learned that two 5-year-old twins were fighting, as siblings sometimes do. Tragically, during the incident, one of the 5-year-olds got a small kitchen knife and stabbed his twin brother," sheriff's officials said in a news release Thursday.

No charges will be filed in the case since age, criminal intent and knowledge of wrongfulness are considered when deciding whether to charge a child with a crime, according to the Sheriff's Office.

"Based on the current investigation, there is no indication of negligence or criminal activity by any other party," sheriff's officials said.
