The future of Scotts Valley is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Alex Trask, who are making a positive impact in and around Scotts Valley.

Alex has stood up for queer rights and safety in the Scotts Valley community, earning him a nomination for the 2024 Queer Youth Leadership Award. Serving as president of the Scotts Valley High School Sexuality & Gender Alliance Club (SAGA) and a member of the Queer & Trans Youth Council (QTYC) of Santa Cruz County, Aex has shown incredible intellect and heart. Alex has advocated for compliance with the California state law that protects the LGBTQIA2S+ community with gender-neutral bathrooms. He has also contributed to QYLA events and has been described as enthusiastic and engaged.

Alex has also collaborated on a video to send to local GSAs and SAGAs. The video focuses on spreading awareness of mental health needs for the local LGBTQIA2S+ community. He also hopes to make the video available online at the QYTF and Santa Cruz County Office of Education websites.
