• Santa Cruz County supervisors order environmental review of battery storage ordinance (santacruzsentinel.com) — Santa Cruz County supervisors just launched a full environmental review of new rules for large battery energy storage projects, voting while meeting in the Scotts Valley City Council Chambers during renovations. The draft ordinance adds setbacks, fire-safety access, runoff protections, and stronger financial responsibility for developers, and will go through months of public review before returning to the board, with another update expected in August.
