Prescribed Burn Planned In Santa Cruz Mountains
Cal Fire has scheduled the prescribed burn for Tuesday.

FELTON, CA —Anyone who sees smoke in the area of Felton on Tuesday probably need not worry; Cal Fire will be conducting a prescribed burn.
Cal Fire will conduct an approximately 26-acre prescribed burn on private land near the intersection of Jamison Creek Road and Empire Grade Tuesday, the agency said.
Weather permitting, the prescribed burn will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., the agency said, but smoke may be noticed in the area one to two days following the burn.

Conducting the burn will enhance wildlife habitat, improve public safety by lowering wildfire risk, and foster relationships with landowners and the local community, Cal Fire said.
It also reduces hazardous fuel loads, prevents the encroachment of non-native plant species and promotes the regeneration of native species.
