Suspected DUI Driver Flees, Dies In Crash
The crash happened in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

BOULDER CREEK, CA —A 36-year-old man was killed in a crash Thursday night after he allegedly fled from a park ranger in Santa Cruz County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 10:17 p.m., a California State Parks Ranger flagged down a black Mazda car on southbound state Highway 9 near Two Bar Road near Boulder Creek. But its driver did not reportedly stop, and a chase ensued, according to CHP Santa Cruz public information officer Israel Murillo.
While traversing through Highway 9's southbound lanes south of Juanita Road, the Mazda veered off the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed into a tree.

The driver, a yet unidentified Boulder Creek resident, suffered severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.
