Transformer Blows Up, Closes Road

A transformer exploded on Bean Creek Road on Sunday, forcing a road closure while emergency crews responded. 

Scotts Valley Police reported the incident via Nixle text and email alerts around 10:30 p.m.

The transformer blew up neat Bean Creek Road around 9:45 p.m. PG&E crews, as well as firefighters, were at the scene. It didn't appear many people lost power as a result of the explosion. The PG&E outage map online showed two customers in Scotts Valley were without power about an hour after the transformer was damaged. Check for outages here:

The road reopened around 11:30 p.m., police reported.
