Watch: Transformer Blows Up

The electrical explosion happened Sunday night on Bean Creek Road.

Scotts Valley resident and Patch reader Roger Stoneburner sent in these two videos of the transformer explosion Sunday night on Bean Creek Road.

The transformer blew up around 9:45 p.m. It took PG&E crews about two hours to repair the damage, Scotts Valley Police reported.

Stoneburner, a cinematographer/editor who lives in the neighborhood, walked over and shot these videos with his iPhone.

"I was wondering why transformers just explode like that," Stoneburner said in an email to Patch.
