405 Freeway Lanes Shut Down After Hit-And-Run Against Motorcycle
The motorcyclist was breathing and coherent, and taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A hit-and-run crash involving a motorcyclist on the southbound Interstate 405 has caused a major traffic slowdown near Sherman Oaks. The accident took place around 12:51 p.m. near the Mulholland Dr exit, according to California Highway Patrol.
An initial report said a black Ford F150 hit a motorcyclist in the center lanes. The motorcyclist was coherent and breathing, and was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
According to CHP, the driver of the Ford F150 attempted to leave the scene, but multiple good Samaritans chased him down and forced him onto the right shoulder, before taking his keys. The suspect's vehicle reportedly had multiple open containers of alcohol, CHP added.

A Sig Alert was issued at 2:20 closing the HOV and two left lanes for 30 minutes. A live traffic map showed heavy congestion back to the State Route 101 interchange.
