Party Bus Catches Fire On 405 Freeway, Prompts Sig Alert

A party bus caught fire on the San Diego (405) Freeway Wednesday afternoon near the Skirball Center, stranding 10 passengers.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A party bus caught fire on the San Diego (405) Freeway Wednesday afternoon, stranding 10 passengers and prompting a Sig Alert near the Skirball Center, according to California Highway Patrol.

There were no reported injuries. The car fire prompted a 30 minute Sig Alert on the freeway starting at 12:37 p.m.

Smoke and flames were coming from the bus's engine compartment around 12:08 p.m. Wednesday, according to CHP. The ground around the bus also set fire.

CHP sent a bus to get the 10 party bus passengers.

The car blocked a multiple lanes on the freeway Wednesday afternoon near the Sepulveda Pass. There was some traffic Wednesday on Mulholland Drive.
