Post Office Evacuated in Bomb Scare
Sherman Oaks post office evacuated after someone called to say a bomb was planted in the building. Police search, but find no bomb.
The U.S. post office on the corner of in Sherman Oaks was evacuated for nearly an hour Thursday morning, after someone telephoned to say that a bomb had been placed inside the building.
The Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad arrived at the post office at about 9:45 a.m. and searched the two-story building, while other officers sealed off the block with yellow tape.
More than 50 of the evacuated postal workers waited one block away while the search was being conducted.

At about 10:40 a.m., the postal employees were allowed back into the building after no bomb was found.
"I didn't think there was a bomb," said one of the postal workers as she was walking back into the post office.

"I was worried because I left my purse inside," said postal worker Barbara Alvarez, as she returned to work.
Several residents of North Sherman Oaks tipped off Sherman Oaks Patch that the building had been evacuated. We certainly appreciate it when people in the neighborhood let us know when newsworthy events are happening.
