Sherman Oaks Station Fire Leaves 12,500 Without Power Overnight
LADWP says power has been restored to about 11,000 of the affected residents.
SHERMAN OAKS — A fire that broke out at a power distributing station sent 12,500 Sherman Oaks residents offline overnight, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. LADWP says the fire caused the station to be "deenergized," requiring firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
The outage started around 2:30 a.m., and LADWP announced on Twitter that 9,000 residents had power restored as of 5:06 a.m. As of 9:00 a.m., all but 1,000 residents have had their power restored.
No information as to the cause of the blaze was immediately available.
