Storm Knocks Massive Tree Onto Sherman Oaks Home

A Sherman Oaks house had to be red-tagged Thursday after a massive tree fell onto it.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A house in Sherman Oaks was deemed unfit for occupancy after a large tree fell on it Thursday.

No one was injured by the tree, which fell about 3:35 p.m. in the 3900 block of Dixie Canyon Avenue, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Although the tree went down during a rain storm, the fire department will not make an official determination as what caused it to fall, Humphrey said.

A building inspector later red-tagged the building, meaning it was deemed unsafe to occupy, according to a report from the scene.
