Boys and Girls Club Celebrates Half a Century With Some Parties
The club is looking for alumni; everyone is welcome at two act-like-a-kid activities next week to celebrate the anniversary
It's hard to believe, but it's been 50 years since the Club opened in the Sonoma Valley, bringing activities and after-school enrichment to Sonoma's youth.
For the more historically minded, you can celebrate the achievement with knowledge: the Index-Tribune has a thorough three-part series chronicling all 50 years of the club's existence.

For the party animals, the club has planned two big events next week – for a celebration worthy of half-a-century.
BIRTHDAY-FEST:

The week starts with a good old-fashion birthday party for the Boys and Girls Club at the . Head down to the Plaza at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12. They'll be cake, donated by Lilian Brunton and The Cake Corner, and plenty of blue and white balloons.
BE A KID AGAIN:
On Saturday, June 16, the club will host another free event for families, and adults looking for an excuse to run, jump and play.
Dubbed, 'Be a Kid Again,' the founders celebration will have all sorts of activities to lull adults, alumni and kids into the best aspects of childhood. Expect a ping pong tournament, a maze, face painting, rock climbing, arts and crafts, a tug of war competition, sand volleyball, and dunk tank. After you're done running around, guests can refresh themselves with free food and drink donated by , , Clover Stornetta, , Pop Chips, Pepsi Co, Harvey’s Gourmet Mini Donuts.
The event starts at 11 a.m. and wraps up by 2 p.m, all at club headquarters on 100 W. Verano Avenue
