Mulholland-Wynants was visiting family in the area according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say he was familiar with the terrain. They don’t yet know how Mulholland-Wynants ended up in the waters of the rain-swollen Russian River.

The Sonoma Sheriff’s Office does not believe there is anything suspicious about the circumstances and Mulholland-Wynants, and he did not appear to have been the victim of foul play.

The Sonoma County Coroner’s Office will schedule an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Geyserville Fire Protection District and the Healdsburg and Cloverdale fire departments also responded, Geyserville Fire Protection District Capt. James Tovani said.
