Fatal Santa Rosa Pedestrian Crash: Driver Pleads Not Guilty
The 42-year-old turned himself in to Santa Rosa police after the fatal hit-and-run collision on state Highway 12 on March 15.
SANTA ROSA, CA — A Santa Rosa man pleaded not guilty in Sonoma County Superior Court on Tuesday to felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run in connection with a pedestrian collision in Santa Rosa.
Daniel Joseph Bazzoli, 42, turned himself in to Santa Rosa police after the fatal hit-and-run collision on state Highway 12 on March 15.
Police responded to a report of an unconscious man lying on the west shoulder of Highway 12 at Middle Rincon Road around 1:20 a.m. The victim, Michael John Campbell, of Santa Rosa, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bazzoli was interviewed by police and allowed them to access his truck, a 2006 Mitsubishi Raider pickup that had damage consistent with a collision.
The complaint also includes a misdemeanor count of inducing a witness to give false testimony. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 24.
