The future of Sonoma Valley is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Logan Zumstein, who are making a positive impact in and around Sonoma Valley.

Logan, a 2024 graduate of Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park and a longtime Boy Scout, has made a lasting impact on the Sonoma County Animal Shelter through his Eagle Scout project. Over the course of a year, Logan designed and built outdoor agility equipment for the shelter’s dogs, providing them with much-needed exercise and enrichment at a time when the facility is at full capacity.

“I wanted to do something to help the animals not be trapped up in cages,” Logan shared with The Press Democrat, reflecting on his motivation for the project.

The project, which included a ramp, steps, hoop, and agility A-frame, required extensive research, planning, and teamwork. Logan led a team of scouts from Santa Rosa’s Troop 32, guiding them in constructing and assembling the equipment.

“Logan was fantastic, he directed everyone on where they needed to go or what needed improvement,” said shelter supervisor Emma Diemert.
