Olea Hotel Opens on Historic Glen Ellen Property
The family-owned operation is housed in an early 1900s boarding house.
Visitors from Guatemala City and the United Kingdom have been staying at the new Olea Hotel in Glen Ellen in the past week. The boutique hotel, tucked among elderly oaks and mature fruit trees on Warm Springs Road, also has drawn visitors from throughout the United States since it opened on Labor Day Weekend.
Owners Sia and Ashish Patel and their families have renovated the property's home and boarding house from the early 1900s. Over the decades, the location has been known as Larigne's French Resort, Rocky Terrace Resort and Glenelly Inn, according to the hotel website. Travelers from San Francisco stayed there because it was a short distance from the Glen Ellen train station at what is now Highway 12 and Arnold Drive.Click here to read more about the history of the property on the Olea website.
Two garden cottages, added by a property owner in 2002, complete the Olea setting.

At the back of the property, visitors can enjoy an oak-shaded terrace with a view of Sonoma Mountain.
"You can really get caught up in watching the fog rolling over that mountain," Ashish said.

The terrace is adjacent to a county preserve, which creates a quiet atmosphere.
A massage salon, a small water fountain and trellises of wisteria around the hot tub add to the soothing effect.
Each morning, guests are offered a complimentary two-plated breakfast with a buffet. At night, there is a wine tasting paired with a dessert made by Executive Chef and trained pastry chef Khamby Khamsyvoravong. She uses organic ingredients from the Patels' garden and from Sonoma County vendors. The hotel will offer Friday afternoon wine tasting too, with a guest winery featured each week.
