Sonoma Hit-And-Run Suspect Suffers Major Injuries In 2 Crashes
The driver from Petaluma is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the two Highway 12 crashes.
SONOMA, CA — A hit-and-run vehicle collision suspect suffered life-threatening injuries after striking another vehicle in a separate collision minutes after the alleged crime in Sonoma on Sunday night, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office. Both collisions involving the suspect, Guadalupe Dionicio Ramirez, 20, of Petaluma, occurred on state Highway 12 around 9:50 p.m. He was allegedly first involved in a hit-and-run collision in the 19000 block of state Highway 12 near the Maxwell Village Shopping Center, Deputy Mike Matelli said.
Deputies responded, but immediately were informed of a second collision allegedly involving Ramirez, south of the hit-and-run collision.
According to Matelli, Ramirez was driving fast on southbound Highway 12 when he allegedly sideswiped the driver's side of a person's car as the vehicles passed each other. Ramirez continued driving south, but lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree south of Mary's Pizza Shack's
corporate office.
