Sonoma Police: Prius Hating Egger, Pump-and-Dash Couple, Man Tempts Child into Car

Friday, January 13

DUI: A 27-year-old Sonoma women called police, telling them that she’d left her cell phone at , but had used a tracking device to locate it on the 700 block of First Street West. The woman took to her car, and deputies followed her to the address. When she got out of her car, the women appeared drunk. After failing a field sobriety test, during which she registered a blood alcohol content level of .10, she was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Saturday, January 14

Grand Theft: Someone stole a black road bike, valued at $3,000, from a garage on the 300 block of France Street. Three days later, on Jan. 17, a city worker found the bike hidden under a layer of pine needles near Pinelli Park, 433 France Street. It was identified and returned to the owner.

Petty Theft: A clerk at reported that he was holding two boys who had attempted to shoplift. A tape showed one of the boys, a 12-year-old Boyes Hot Springs resident, stuff a small TV under his sweatshirt, while a 13-year-old El Verano resident removed a second TV from a shelf. In total the youths lifted $328.61 worth of merchandise, including a TV, padlocks, camping tools and a magnesium lighter. The boys were cited to Youth and Family Services for shoplifting.

Battery: Deputies responded to reports a live-in boyfriend hit his girlfriend, a resident of the 800 block of First Street West. The man, 24, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery.

Sunday, January 15

Vandalism: A vandal hit downtown Sonoma, egging three houses during the evening. At 7:30 a.m., a resident of the 400 block of East Macarthur Street reported his 2007 Suburban was egged. On Fifth Street East, at Macarthur, the vandal egged a green Toyota Prius and on the 300 block of East Macarthur a silver Toyota Prius was egged.

Grand Theft: A man reported that several metal plates were stolen from the back of his work truck, which was parked overnight on Patten Street, near First Street East. The thief made off with 300 lbs of copper, valued at $1060, and 60 lbs of aluminum, valued at $60.

Petty Theft: clerks detained a 34-year-old Sonoma resident who reportedly stole a bottle of Devon Williams whiskey, valued at $20.49, by stuffing it under his shirt and walking out of the store. The man was cited, charged with a misdemeanor petty theft.

Monday, January 16

Informational Report: A couple, driving a’96 Chevy Suburban, pumped $70 worth of gas at the and took off. Officers tracked the vehicle to a Sonoma resident in the process of moving, who had spent the night at the . The Lodge reported that the couple had pulled a sleep-and-dash and left without paying again. Police say they are following several leads to locate the couple.

Tuesday, January 17

Vandalism: Someone drew graffiti along the Highway 12 bike path, through to the 800 block of West Spain St. Officers suspect the graffiti was made during the evening of the 16^th; damage is estimated at $850.

Vandalism: Someone drew graffiti in KT Carter Park.

Drink in Public: At 5 p.m., police picked up a man, 58, stumbling around a parking lot outside . The Boyes Hot Springs resident refused to obey deputies, and wouldn’t get in the officers car. He was charged with a misdemeanor charge of drunk in public and resisting arrest.

Marijuana Violation: Deputies stopped a man driving down West Napa Street with an outdated registration tag on his plate. When the driver, a 27-year-old Boyes Hot Springs resident, pulled the car over near , officers smelled marijuana smoke wafting from the windows. The driver and a passenger both admitted that a marijuana joint was lit within the vehicle. The driver was cited for having a marijuana joint lit while driving.

Wednesday, January 18

Vandalism: Someone drew gang-related graffiti in Plaza Park, across the bathroom, gazebo and a eucalyptus tree, between the evening of the 17^th and early morning hours of the 18^th.

Skate park Violation: A 16-year-old Sonoma boy was cited for skateboarding without a helmet in the Maxwell Park skate park, as part of the police department’s quest for 100 percent safety compliance. Helmet citations cost $50.

Informational Report: After a series of stings by the Sonoma Police, the Wine Cave had their liquor license revoked. Deputies went to speak to staff at the Wine Cave, after hearing reports that they were still serving alcohol.

DUI: At 8 p.m. deputies responded to a report from the that a man had been denied alcohol because he was intoxicated, and got into a red station wagon and rove off. Officers found a matching vehicle parked 18-inches away from the curb on Fourth Street West at West Napa. The driver, a 64-year-old Sonoma man, said he’d been driving earlier. He failed a field sobriety test and refused to consent to a breath test of his alcohol levels. He was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Thursday, January 19

DUI: At 7:19 a.m. a man was stopped near for driving with a tail light violation. The deputy detected an odor of alcohol on the man’s breath. The driver, a 45-year-old Sonoma man, failed his field sobriety tests. He blew a .07 on a preliminary alcohol breath test. Because he appeared intoxicated, he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Suspicious Circumstances: An 11-year-old student told officials that at 8 a.m. strange man drove up to her in front of school and asked her if she needed a ride home. He was driving a red sedan.

Found Property: City staff turned in a cruiser bike, which had been left near City Hall for over a week.
