Another disturbance will move through the region, bringing additional rain showers and perhaps some isolated thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
The primary hazards from today's storms will be heavy rainfall, small hail, and possibly stronger wind gusts, according to the forecast.
Rain chances drop late afternoon and evening as storms shift east.
Showers may persist through Friday night and into Saturday morning. Winds are expected to turn north, reducing moisture.
More than 27,000 PG&E customers around the Bay Area were without power Thursday night while heavy rains and wind continued to pummel the region.
As of 8 p.m., 7,527 customers were affected in Sonoma County and 7,219 in the South Bay, PG&E spokesman Jeff Smith told reporters.
However, the total number of customers without power dropped after Thursday afternoon, when more than 35,000 were affected.
The utility agency said wind gusts topping 92 m.p.h. caused widespread outages during the day with the counties of Sonoma, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Mateo being the hardest hit.
On Thursday night, rain and wind continued to inundate the region, bringing flooding and warnings of severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes.
"It's been a busy week, but we aren`t quite done yet," forecasters said this morning.
