Ten Years Later: The Effects of 9/11

How was your life impacted by the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001? Tell us in the comments or send an email to alexis.fitts@patch.com

The tenth anniversary of terrorist attacks is quickly approaching and we want to hear from readers about your thoughts and feelings about what happened that day and in the next decade. Even though Sonoma is 3,000 miles from New York and Washington, D.C., we too felt the impact of the tragedy and many lives were altered because of it.

Patch Contributor Andres Rico watched from his Sonoma eighth grade
classroom when the planes hit the twin towers on September 11, 2001. But the horrific events seemed very far away and "unreal," until 2005, when he snapped these shots of the Sonoma Plaza  transformed into a memorial for soldiers fallen in the Iraq and Afghanistan War.   "The war which, seemed so far away, was symbolically in my face and very real," says Rico.
