Transcendence Theatre Company's Last Night for Summer Sept. 1

The final show of the inaugural Transcendence Theatre Company's season at Jack London State Historic Park in Glen Ellen is Saturday. The group plans to be back again next summer but has not released details yet of the next season's shows.

Saturday's event will be a fundraiser for the future of the Broadway Under The Stars series and the company. It will feature a pre-show silent auction, a tribute to the community, Broadway and Hollywood performers in concert "and a culmination of all that has been successful during this inaugural season," according to their website.

Transcendence is a non-profit company of musical theatre artists with Broadway, national tour, international tour, film and TV credits. They have performed in the old winery ruins at the park on London Ranch Road all summer.

Five dollars of every ticket has gone toward keeping the park open and operational. The park had been slated for closure but is now operated by the non-profit Valley of the Moon Natural History Association.

The group did a motorhome tour of the United States to choose a location for their company before selecting Sonoma. Several of the artists now live here and can sometimes be seen performing at the Tuesday night Farmers' Market.

On Saturday night, pre-show picnicking begins at 5 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Guests can buy meals from food trucks there or bring their own.
