4.1 Earthquake Shakes Southland

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake in Yorba Linda shakes the greater Los Angeles area.

A magnitude-4.1 earthquake struck about 2 miles east-northeast of Yorba Linda, Calif., shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor's epicenter was about 5.5 miles underground and about 29 miles east-southeast of downtown Los Angeles, according to the USGS.

The Los Angeles Fire Department is operating in emergency earthquake mode, according to spokesman Erik Scott. Fire crews at 106 neighborhood fire stations conducting area assessments to ensure there was no damage.

No damage has been reported thus far.
