Who Killed 46-Year-Old South Gate Man? Police Wants to Know

Oswaldo Urizar was shot in his apartment where he died. Police have no motive or description of the suspect or suspects.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were searching Friday for whoever shot and killed a 46-year-old man in his South Gate apartment.

The attack in the 10400 block of Montara Avenue was reported at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday, said sheriff’s Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez.

According to the family of 46-year-old Oswaldo Urizar, he lived alone in a studio apartment in South Gate and was last seen on Tuesday about 4:30 p.m., the sheriff’s department reported.

Neighbors told sheriff’s detective they heard gunshots coming from his apartment about 10 p.m. Tuesday, the night before he was found dead. However, no one bothered to call authorities to report the shooting.

Urizar was pronounced dead inside his apartment, according to the sheriff’s department and the coroner’s office.

A motive for the attack was not known, and no suspect information was immediately available. Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assisting South Gate police in the investigation, Navarro-Suarez said.
