Athletic Director to Stay at SPHS—for Now

A tentative agreement has been reached between retired athletic director Ralph Punaro and the .

Punaro, who has been with the district for 27 years, will act as the interim athletic director for three months while the district looks to fill his role, according to reports.

At the end of the three-month period, the agreement will be revisited and adjustments will be made. 

Punaro retired this year incentive package to staff.

"I was looking [to work] for several more years, but this seemed like the right thing to do," Punaro told Patch last month.

Punaro wrote in an email Friday that he is looking forward to continuing his work with all the "outstanding coaches and student athletes at SPHS."

He also wants to thank Principal Janet Anderson for all of her support over the past several months.
