Decomposing Body Found Inside Car in Monterey Park

The body was found about 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue, according to sherrif's officials.

MONTEREY PARK, CA - Sheriff's homicide detectives Tuesday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man's decomposed body in a car in Monterey Park.

The body was found about 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Sgt. Bill Cotter of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau said people reported a strong odor to the Monterey Park Police Department late in the afternoon, leading to the discovery of the remains.

The car was not reported stolen, according to Cotter.

Authorities did not say whether they had determined the cause of death, and whether the man had been identified.
