San Gabriel Valley's Suspected Glass Man Burglar Arrested

Police arrested a man they suspect of being part of a burglary crew that hit businesses across San Gabriel Valley for more than $500,000.

PASADENA, CA — A 27-year-old man dubbed the Glass Man Burglar has been arrested in Pasadena for his role in a burglary crew under investigation by police in a number of cities, the Pasadena Police Department announced Thursday.

Kevin Michael Guerrero, described as a career criminal who was on probation, was arrested on Sunday, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

The Pasadena resident is suspected of being the Glass Man Burglar, so- named because of his method of removing glass panes intact from the doors of closed businesses that have had over $50,000 worth of motorized scooters, computers, lottery scratch-off tickets and cigarettes taken during early morning burglaries.

"The suspect was known to work with accomplices," but Guerrero, whose image was caught on surveillance video and circulated by police, is believed to have specialized in removing the glass panes, police said.

Investigators got a break in the case on Feb. 14 when Pasadena police Officer Mario Calderon "rolled up on the suspect and his crew breaking into Just Tires, 2480 E. Foothill Blvd. in Pasadena," according to a police statement.

The suspect got away, but Calderon arrested an alleged accomplice, 22- year-old Gabrielle Girotti-Valdez of Pasadena. She has since been charged with commercial burglary, taken a plea deal and is serving jail time, police said.

Officer Michael Orosco was on patrol about 3 a.m. Sunday and saw Guerrero, who he recognized from a wanted flyer, walking east on Colorado Boulevard near Michigan Avenue. He was wearing the same distinctive clothing depicted in the flyer, police said.

"Guerrero was taken into custody without incident and was found to be in possession of burglary tools," police said.

Guerrero was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail and is next due in court in Pasadena on March 8, according to sheriff's inmate records.

The conviction for which Guerrero was on probation was not immediately available.

Guerrero had been sought by police in Pasadena, Glendale and Arcadia, police said.
