South Pas Schools Still Score Well in API Marks

The new scores include geometry tests taken by students in high school and junior high, among other changes.

The California Department of Education released recalculated API scores Thursday with all schools still far above the state's 2011 target of 800.

and showed a slight increase while showed a slight decrease. All other district schools stayed the same:

The new scores include geometry tests taken by students in high school and junior high, among other changes, according to SGVT.

Even so, South Pasadena Unified maintained its average API score of 912—up one point from 2010. 

The state determines API scores using a weighted formula, using tests administered in May, and the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). The California Standards Test (CST) results are most heavily weighted.

The statewide rank compares schools of similar sizes on their academic performance on a scale of 1 to 10. The number marks the percentage of statewide schools the ranked school surpassed, i.e. a score of "10" would mean the school outperformed 100 percent of other schools.
