7 South Pas Summer Camps

Here are 7 summer camp options for kids and teens. Where will your children be hanging this summer?

Here are seven local summer camps. How will your kids be spending their days once school is out? Take our Patch poll, and share with us in comments! 

1. Camp Med

Kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to spend their summer vacation with Camp Med from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. (Classes for this age are filling fast, and only available for the beginning and end of summer. Call now!)

The city's program provides a full day of fun, including swimming twice a week, games, arts and crafts, sports, educational activities and a field trip each week. Two daily snacks are provided but campers must bring their own lunch. 

Middle school ages 10 to 13 can also take part this year. (And there is room available!)

Fee: Between $92 and $125 per week.

2. Kinesthetic Kids 

3D Imax, a trip to the beach, rollerskating, camping and a Dodger's game. Those are just a few of the activities kids K through 8 can expect at this "alternative method of daycare." The camp provides meals: breakfast, lunch and three snacks throughout the day.  

Fee: Between $100 and $150 per week; $50 registration fee; field trips are a la carte.

3. Celebration Kids

Young kids (there's only room for 4-year-olds left; sorry folks!) can enjoy in-house field trips at this preschool including performances from puppeteers and bubble people. The summer program includes a summer bash, plus the typical curriculum providing opportunities in the interrelated areas of physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday

Fees: Between $490 and $780 per month plus a one-time summer registration fee. 

4. 

Kids can expect cooking, improve comedy and sports classes at South Pasadena's newest daycare: Beyond the Classroom. There will also be field trips to a water park and pizza place. The program is an offshoot to , and caters to ages kindergarten through 5. The premise is loaded with a playground, sandbox, and kids' playhouse.

5. SPUSD Summer Camp

Summer Camp 2012 will be open for eight weeks starting June 18 through August 10. There will be one weekly field trip, two swim days per week, games, arts and other fun activities.

Registration starts now. You can pick up materials at any SPUSD school, or at the District Office. If your child is registered for a summer school class offered by , you will get a $5 discount for the weeks that your child is attending both programs. Sibling discounts are available, too. 

Fee: Between $105 and $145 per week. 

6. 

Come for one week or all three. Children will use the neighborhood to inspire art activities such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, folk and functional art. Days include morning workshops and afternoon programs with guest artists, games, group projects, and walking field trips.

While kids ages 6 to 11 can enjoy this creative camp 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., teen workshops on fashion, photography and more are also available from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Fee: $300 per week.

7. Mathnasium 

Math made fun. That's Mathnasium's motto. Each week features a different concept theme, including lots of physical games and activities that support what kids are learning. Expect field trips, too. 

With weekly enrollment, the tutoring center is offering 9 weeks of summer sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday—starting June 28 and ending August 26. 

Fee: Between $135 and $175 per week.
