Suspicious Package Reported at Monterey Park Elementary School Turns Out to Be Flowers

MONTEREY PARK, CA - A suspicious package that was reported at a Monterey Park school on Wednesday evening turned out the be flowers, police said.

The package was reported shortly before 7 p.m. at Monterey Highlands Elementary School, Monterey Park police Lt. Eric Kim said.

"We have the fire department hazmat team out there and a preliminary (inspection) looks like it may just be flowers," he said.

The package was discovered in the playground area of the school. After the Monterey Park Fire Department did an on-site test, the package was determined to be harmless.
